Fall Research 2016 Week 5: Game Design (Update #1)
This week, me and my partner Patrickson Weanquoi began the initial layout of our cyber security education game, Birds & Worms. At this moment, our initial layout consist of a 2D background, one sprite playable character (bird), GUI motion controls setup, and side scrolling animation. The basic idea behind the game is to have the player control the bird and fly across eating worms. However, not all worms are created equal. Similarly with real life scenarios, some worms are actually malicious worms intended to harm the bird. The player will receive prior knowledge of what type of worms to trust and what type not to trust. Then it is their responsibility to guide the bird towards the right worms. If successful, the player will receive notice of why their navigation and choices were correct. If unsuccessful, the player will receive tips on how to better recognize malicious "worms" and protect themselves.
