Summer Research 2017: Week 6
This week I continued my literary review in preparation for creating our game on DDoS. I began with the publication "Understanding distributed denial of service with object oriented simulation" by José M. Garrido. This publication was about a simulation model of a DDoS attack on a network and, with it, attempts to show the value of object-oriented modeling and simulation to study various aspects of network security. One of the goals of his project was to develop new simulation tools and approaches for education, the Object Oriented Simulation Language, OOSimL, was developed with this goal. My only main criticism of this method was the extremely technical nature of the simulation, although Garrido does mention plans of a simplified GUI and animation process. However, I do find the idea of an object oriented game with tracers to follow the flow of data to be interesting.
